Description

Conversion of 1920s Grade 2 listed church in Derby to accommodate well known and popular 180 seat restaurant. From concept layout and design through to detailed design and management of builders’ tenders and appointment of main contractor and mechanical & electrical sub-contractors. Close liaison with client throughout to ensure the design could meet all needs.

Mike Taylor was awarded the 2018 Best Restoration project by Derby Civic Society in recognition of a significant improvement to the built environment of the City of Derby.
The judges said- ‘It is difficult to find a sympathetic re-use of an obsolete ecclesiastical building and some might think that Annies Burger Shack would be inappropriate. However, this conversion has been done extremely well with the retention of original features. Where new fittings have been required, they have been done sympathetically and in keeping with the original.
