Green Eco Office Park At Wychbold, Worcestershire

International Exhibitions Company, Iguana Group, instructed Taylor and Co Architects, to submit a detailed Planning Application for four new eco-friendly contemporary office pavilions to replace the Group’s existing offices and workshops near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.

Mike Taylor, of Taylor and Co Architects, sees this project as a major statement in the development of new Eco Designed offices, and uses solar shading and high insulation as well as a sustainable urban drainage scheme below the car parks to reduce surface water run-off, thus decreasing the risk of flooding. Rainwater will also be re-cycled and used to flush toilets.

Concern for the environment is not only addressed in the building design; covered bicycle sheds outside the buildings and fully fitted shower rooms within will be provided in order to encourage employees to cycle to work, and the offices are situated on a bus route, making travel by public transport easy and convenient.

“This multi-million pound development is a great opportunity to make a positive change that will benefit the local employment as well as ensuring the site’s future”, said Mike Taylor. “The aim is to achieve and maintain excellent sustainability as an exemplar to other developers in new builds. It is definitely the way forward.”

He added, “Not only does this type of design help the environment, it is also extremely cost effective as energy bills are slashed, thus reducing running costs – a major consideration for all businesses, especially in the current financial climate.”
